Blue Calcite is a type of calcium carbonate that appears in blue tones as a result of other minerals in the Calcite. The word Calcite comes from the German word "calcit," meaning limestone. Due to its light, milky colors, in the ancient world, Calcite was called “alabaster" and grouped together with gypsum. Along with the calming blue colors of Blue Calcite, it also comes in white, clear, and gray hues. Calcite is one of the most prevalent parts of the sedimentary stone, and even appears in the shells of sea creatures. The largest piece ever found was discovered in Iceland, but Calcite is found all over the world. The charming colors and wonderful formations of Blue Calcite are what make this such a popular stone, as it gives off calming and comforting vibes to any space.
